Core Curriculum
Students who will be earning their first baccalaureate degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ) must satisfy the coursework requirements of the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Core Curriculum (CC). The CC complies with the 1997 Texas legislation that required each state-supported institution to establish a CC that encompasses components of natural and applied sciences, social sciences, mathematics, humanities, visual and performing arts and tools of language and thoughts. NOTE: Prerequisites may or may not be the same as required core courses.
These CC courses or their equivalents for a total of 42 semester credit hours (SCHs) may be taken at any regionally accredited college or university and should be completed with a grade of "C" or higher BEFORE enrolling at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ.
Students who successfully complete a (CC) of 42 or more SCHs, at another accredited public institution of higher education in Texas, that meets the specified "component area" requirements below may be transferred to the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ and substituted for the core curriculum of the School of Nursing. In addition, students will not be required to take additional CC courses. The State of Texas has specified the following component area requirements:

* In addition, pre-nursing course requirements must be completed with a grade of "C" or better BEFORE enrolling at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ. These courses can be taken at any regionally accredited college or university. A maximum of 15 credit hours can be earned via credit by examination.
