Holly Wei, Ph.D., R.N., CPN, NEA-BC, FAAN

Holly Wei, Ph.D., R.N., CPN, NEA-BC, FAAN, is the fifth Dean at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ) School of Nursing. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with research focusing on healthcare organizational culture, leadership development, clinician well-being, interprofessional collaboration, and health promotion across the lifespan.

Dr. Wei is a nationally and internationally recognized nurse leader and scholar, widely respected and admired for her achievements. Multiple healthcare systems have adopted her nursing practice models and Convergent Care Theory, significantly enhancing practice and patient care standards. Her textbook, Visionary Leadership in Healthcare: Excellence in Practice, Policy, and Ethics, was awarded the 2022 American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Book of the Year, earning first place in the Nursing Management and Leadership category. She has delivered over 100 invited and peer-reviewed presentations and published nearly 90 professional articles, with close to 4,000 citations influencing nursing practice, education, and research globally.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), Dr. Wei actively shapes healthcare policy and promotes excellence in nursing. She has contributed extensively to professional journals as an editor, served on advisory boards, and held positions on national and international nursing organizations’ Board of Directors and committees. She also serves on the American Academy of Nursing’s Building Health Care System Excellence Expert Panel.

Before joining Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ, Dr. Wei held several prominent leadership positions in nursing. As Assistant Dean for the PhD Program and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship, she led successful PhD program reviews and secured and executed multi-million-dollar grants. As Interim Chief Nursing Administrator, she led the preparation for two successful CCNE visits and received 10-year accreditations for all program levels, including BSN, MSN, DNP, and Post-Graduate Certificate Programs.

Dr. Wei has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including the Leininger Caring-Culture Award, Board of Governors Distinguished Professor, DAISY Extraordinary Faculty, Outstanding Research Scholar, Scholar-Teacher Award, Nurse Educator of the Year, and the 2023 Distinguished Leadership Scholar. These accolades highlight her exceptional academic contributions and commitment to compassionate care. 

Under Dr. Wei’s leadership, the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ School of Nursing has embarked on new strategies to achieve greater heights of excellence. She has initiated efforts to advance the school’s research capabilities, strengthen partnerships with healthcare organizations, and enhance the academic experience for faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Wei’s visionary leadership drives the elevation of the school’s financial sustainability and accreditation standards, positioning Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ as a leader in nursing education.
