The SWCC-BCE strives to empower the community it serves to make healthy choices. Primary physicians nationwide recommend screening mammograms for eligible women less than 30% of the time. Our center provides training programs and educational events via relationships with community enthusiasts to increase "Knowledge", and improve "Attitudes" and "Practices" regarding breast health – KAP approach.

The SWCC-BCE recognizes the importance of education and early detection. We provide early detection and screening education at various health fairs and events, including the Lubbock County Wellness Fair, Lubbock Christian University Health Fair, and Lubbock Impact.

In addition, Ladies Night Out is a monthly, after hours screening event that is held at the UMC Imaging Center. This event allows women who are unable to schedule their breast cancer screenings during regular business hours the opportunity for preventive care and screening mammograms after 5 p.m.

The SWCC also receives grant dollars from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to help fund under-insured patients in need of these items.
