Our Mission

As the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, we strive to provide the highest standard of medical care for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, encompassing primary, subspecialty, and tertiary care. We serve as an advocate for pediatric health issues affecting the infants, children, and adolescents of our region and state.

Message from the Chair

Dear friends,

These are unprecedented times. Now, like never before, pediatricians answer the call of duty in taking care of healthy, sick, and injured children under the extraordinary circumstances of a global pandemic. And, like never before, it is the best time to be a pediatrician.

The Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Science Center offers excellent, cutting edge care to children of West Texas, eastern New Mexico and beyond, serving the population of roughly 1.4 million people from Dallas to Albuquerque.

Our university-based department is strongly connected to the kids and families we serve through our affiliations with two of the largest hospitals in West Texas - University Medical Center and Covenant Children’s Hospital.

Our dynamic residency program is offering trainees a chance to work in both community and academic environments, providing a unique opportunity to care for kids from urban, suburban and rural settings.

We welcome you to share in the passion, energy and innovation of the Department.
