The Department of Anesthesiology offers a four year program beginning with internship. Physicians enter the residency training program in the department of Anesthesiology in an internship (PGY-1) position. Our internship position may be entered after having successfully completed an accredited medical school. We offer a one year internship (PGY-1) in conjunction with the Texas Tech Family Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology & Surgery departments. It consists of rotations through the Medical ICU, Neuro ICU, Family Medicine Inpatient Medicine Service, OB, Surgery and ER, as well anesthesia rotations.
The fully accredited residency program in Anesthesiology provides training in all areas of pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, general surgery, otolaryngology, and cardiovascular surgery. Emphasis is on training the complete anesthesiologist to be prepared to enter clinical and academic practice. As of recent, residents have performed well on the ABA examination process to become board certified and have secured excellent positions after completion of residency training at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ, In fact, some of our residents have been recognized as being in the top 10% in scoring on the ABA BASIC exam.
The department is small, friendly, and dynamic. It is able to give special attention to valued residents. The department has a history of providing capable anesthesiologists to the work force and is rapidly developing momentum in becoming a nationally and internationally acclaimed research center in the future
Please visit the website in order to review the ABA Booklet of Information. The Booklet of Information provides information on the policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements regarding the certification and eligibility process to take the board examination in Anesthesiology.
