HRPP Education and Training Overview


Prerequisites for Being Involved in Human Subject Research

The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ HRPP requires all research study personnel who engage in human subjects research to complete the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ approved initial (and ongoing) education regarding the protection of human subjects in research prior to beginning any human research-related activities.  This policy applies to all research involving human subjects, regardless of funding or sponsorship.

These training requirements apply to all Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, and research staff.  This includes individuals who:

      • Conduct study procedures (including informed consent) or interventions with human subjects; 
      • Review Board Members;
      • Collect or enter data; and/or
      • Use or have access to private information that can be linked to research subjects.

Failure to Comply

The IRB has the authority to suspend or withhold approval from any project that involves study personnel who fail to meet these education requirements.
