Research Activities
Dr. Boris Decourt is an Assistant Professor at 泫圖弝け, School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Laboratory on Neurodegeneration and Translational Research. Our laboratory focuses on three main lines of research:
- We carry out pharmacological experiments on several models of Alzheimer's disease
(AD), including cell cultures and rodents (transgenic mice). We also conduct molecular
and protein analyses to investigate the phenotypes of our models with and without
drug challenge.
- We are involved in several AD clinical trials (2 are funded by the NIH on one funded
by a private foundation) and carry out biomarker development experiments for neurodegenerative
disorders on human biofluids.
- We participate in community-based dementia research activities in rural areas around Lubbock, Texas. We also have collaborations with local clinicians to initiate pilot projects aimed at improving the medical care provided to residents in the community we serve.
Dr. Decourt is a member of the 泫圖弝け Garrison Institute on aging (GIA), which manages the Project FRONTIER (Facing Rural Obstacles to Healthcare Now Through Intervention, Education and Research) study in West Texas, and a member of the Steering Committee for the 泫圖弝け Center of Excellence for Translational Neuroscience and Therapeutics (CTNT)
Training Opportunities
Dr. Decourt is regularly looking for students, technicians, and postdocs to assist with the management and execution of research projects. The positions can be internships or full-time employment from a few weeks (e.g., summer internship) to several years depending on lab funding. Please send an email for inquiries.
