About Us

In 1974, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ established the Office of Educational Development and Continuing Medical Education (CME). Accreditation for CME was officially granted in 1976 by the Liaison Committee for Continuing Medical Education. In a significant milestone, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ received its initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) in 1985. This recognition was followed by subsequent reaccreditations in 1991, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2019, solidifying Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ's 47-year history of providing accredited continuing education.

Over the years, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ has been dedicated to delivering high-quality interdisciplinary and inter-professional training that seamlessly integrates research with fundamental and clinical knowledge, clinical skills, and humanistic approaches. This commitment culminated in a notable achievement on July 24, 2023, when Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ was awarded Joint Accreditation. Furthermore, on September 8, 2023, approval was granted to change the name of the office to the Center of Accredited Interprofessional Continuing Medical Education.

Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ's evolution also involved expanding its accredited continuing education into an interprofessional CE program, broadening its educational offerings locally, regionally, and nationally. These ongoing efforts have earned Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ the respect and loyalty of practitioners, patients, and communities alike, all recognizing the value of team-based education in enhancing patient care.

Accreditation

Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME has been granted the opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to provide continuing education for multiple professions through a single, unified application process, fee structure, and set of accreditation standards.

In support of improving patient care, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME is authorized to award AMA PRA credit, ANCC credit, ACPE credit, and IPCE credit. Additionally, we now extend credit opportunities to physician assistants, social workers, and psychologists.

 

Mission Statement

The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Office of Accredited Interprofessional Continuing Medical Education (OAICME) serves all healthcare team members' continuing medical education needs. These include members from different professions in Lubbock and the surrounding regions, including but not limited to South Plains and Panhandle of Texas.

The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME operates from the main campus in Lubbock. In addition, the Permian Basin and Amarillo campuses have extension OAICME offices to meet the diverse needs of our learners at those locations and the continuing education needs of geographically separated healthcare providers of the region. These healthcare providers deliver care across large geographic areas, from the metro areas of the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ campuses to rural, ranching, and agricultural-based populations within a 300-mile radius. It is essential to the overall mission of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ to deliver education within the communities that feed our population and areas where our faculty and graduates live and practice. Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME will meet the needs of the healthcare team by developing educational interventions in an interprofessional approach using adult learning principles and lifelong learning strategies.

The expected results of the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME overall educational program are to plan accredited continuing education that changes skills/strategies or performance of the healthcare team and/or patient outcomes.

The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ OAICME will measure and evaluate changes in skills/strategies or performance of the healthcare team for all educational activities. In addition, measuring patient outcomes changes will be judiciously assessed for selected activities.
