When is the commencement ceremony?
The School of Health Professions is committed to recognizing and celebrating your accomplishments. Please review the Schedule section at /health-professions/commencement/default.aspx for the most up to date schedule of events.
How will I be notified about commencement related activities?
All correspondence regarding graduation and commencement exercises will be posted on the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ SHP Commencement webpage or sent to your Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ administered student e-mail account. It is recommended that you check your Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ e-mail regularly.
How can I be sure that my name will be listed in the Commencement program?
In order for your name to be listed in the Commencement Program, you MUST have completed the online graduation application by your dedicated deadline. In addition, you must agree to your information being published. If you do not recall how you answered this question on your graduation application, please email shp.enrollmentmanagement@ttuhsc.edu
How long does the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ SHP Commencement ceremony last?
Ceremonies can last anywhere from 2 to 3.5 hours.
Are tickets required for family and friends to attend the ceremony?
No, tickets are not required.
Is it Open Seating or Assigned Seating?
Seating for guests will be on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. We ask that guests refrain from saving seats in the arena before the ceremonies. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
Is my child allowed to process on stage with me to receive my diploma?
For safety reasons, children and infants will not be allowed to accompany graduates on stage. Please arrange for family and friends to care for children at the ceremony.
How do I get my cap and gown?
Regalia may be ordered from . Depending on when the order is placed, additional fees could be required for expedited processing and shipping. You will be notified if this pertains to your order before processing. We will do our best to accommodate all order requests placed prior to February 15th. Orders purchased will not be shipped until 2 weeks prior to the commencement ceremony. Special requests can be sent to info@westtexasgrad.com. Please contact West Texas Graduation Services to determine if regalia may still be ordered, 806-744-7737.
What is the official attire for participating in the commencement ceremony?
You may purchase your regalia package from West Texas Grad Services. Adornments may be worn but are limited to cords and stoles from organizations officially recognized by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Personal decor is NOT allowed on mortar boards, caps or gowns.
What is the cost for graduation regalia (cap and gown)?
Regalia information is available on the website. There are multiple regalia packages available.
How do I know if I am graduating with honors or will have an Honor Cord at commencement?
Only undergraduate students are eligible to graduate with honors. Below is the breakdown of each honors designation:
Summa Cum Laude 3.90-4.0
Magna Cum Laude 3.70-3.89
Cum Laude 3.50-3.69
Honor cords will be distributed on the day of commencement.
When will I receive my diploma?
For Spring graduates, your diploma will be available for pick up immediately following your commencement ceremony. Prior to commencement, please check to make sure you do not have any holds on your account. You will not be able to receive a diploma until the hold is resolved and released. If your graduation date is for the Fall or Summer semester, your diploma will be mailed to you approximately 1-3 weeks following your official graduation date.
Which address will my diploma be sent to?
Your diploma will be sent to the mailing address that you indicate on your graduation application. Please be aware that FedEx or Lonestar do NOT deliver to P.O. Box addresses. If you have a Lubbock address listed as your diploma mailing address, then you will need to pick up your diploma at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Affairs, office.
Where can I order graduation photos/videos?
A professional photographer will be taking photos of each graduate as they receive their diploma. Once you are fully registered with Candid Color, you will receive a link to your personal graduation gallery via text and/or email within 4-6 hours of your ceremony completion. From there you can view your photos first and then purchase online on their retail website. All orders will be shipped directly to you. Any questions can be directed to ccpcustomerservice@candid.com.
Where should I advise my guests to stay if they are from out of town?
We do not block hotel rooms for commencement. Anyone wishing for accommodations should make their own reservations. Please make sure you reserve the correct dates.

What should I bring with me on the day of commencement?
We ask all graduates to leave personal belongings with friends or family during the ceremony. There is not a place to safely secure personal belonging during the ceremony.
