Quality Science Merges with Animal Welfare

The Laboratory Animal Resources Center (LARC) oversees and supports the procurement, housing, health, and welfare of research animals at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ facilities in Lubbock, Amarillo and Abilene under the direct supervision of the Institutional Veterinarian. In partnership with the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee, we monitor the use of research animals to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as University policies.

Research faculty and staff may access resources and information related to LARC’s services via the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ intranet.

Animal Acquisition

LARC approves and processes all animal purchases. Import and export of animals must be coordinated through the LARC office.

Investigator Information

LARC staff are available to provide technical assistance, advice, and training at all stages of the research process related to animal use.
