Presidential Communications
Dear Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Faculty and Staff,
A burning question for most everyone these days is when we'll "get back to normal." The answers are coming. On Monday, Gov. Abbott announced his plan to reopen Texas, and last week, President Trump released federal guidelines for safely reopening America. Similarly, local community leaders are working on guidelines for their respective cities.
The direction put forth by our governmental leaders will shape the reopening of our campuses. During the Town Hall at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 30, we will share our plan and answer your questions. Please join us via Zoom: .
COVID-19 presents a challenge in that one size does not fit all. While the common goal is to get people back to work for economic stability, that must be done with a concerted focus on individual safety and minimal community spread of the coronavirus.
Unlike the immediacy with which we moved to remote working status, our transition
back to campus will be campus-specific - and even position-specific - based on the
current coronavirus situation in that community. In the meantime, I ask that you stay
the course and continue to work under our Phase IV operations until directed by your
campus leadership in accordance with our return to campus plan.
Thank you for your efforts during these challenging times. You are the reason Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ
has remained open and productive, allowing us to continue fulfilling our mission.
Warmest regards,
Lori Rice-Spearman, Ph.D.
Interim President and Provost
