Formula funding provides the groundwork to help Graduate Medical Education (GME) thrive at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ. We are dedicated to developing high quality health care professionals across our schools of Medicine, Nursing, the Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, the School of Health Professions and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
What it means to invest in formula funding/GME at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ:
- Supporting Graduate Medical Education (GME) slots, which are tied to formula funding determined by the legislature, as well as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
- Supporting our mission to address care shortages in rural communities, with 111 slots dedicated to Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Family Medicine
- Supporting Instruction and Operations (I&O), which sustains and develops academic
resources to maintain adequate student/faculty ratios and accreditation standards
I&O Formula Rates - Health Related Institutions
- Formula funding and investments from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) provide the foundation for the sustainment of Graduate Medical Education (GME) opportunities
- GME opportunities are a critical part in the professional development of our future health care providers and an investment in addressing care shortages in our rural communities
- Instruction and Operations (I&O) comprises 88% of total formula funding for Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ
- I&O funding is a critical element in sustaining academic resources, such as maintaining adequate student/faculty ratios and maintaining accreditation standards
