What is LCME accreditation?

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) grants accreditation to U.S. and Canadian medical education programs that meet established standards. While LCME accreditation is voluntary, this peer-reviewed process of accreditation assures students seeking an MD degree of the quality of the medical education program. LCME accreditation also enables graduates of LCME-accredited medical education programs to be eligible to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination () and eligible for residency programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ().

LCME Accreditation Status

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine (泫圖弝け SOM) is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). Dating back to 1971, 泫圖弝け SOM has left its mark on West Texas, the State of Texas, the nation, and world. In celebration of our 40th year, a Timeline Display, designed by Margaret Vugrin and Tim Hayes, beautifully chronicles the SOMs history.

Self-Study Team

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is interested in the perceptions of current students enrolled in Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicines (泫圖弝け SOMS) medical education program. The LCME requires the student opinion survey and resulting independent student analysis (ISA) be managed, administered, and analyzed by current students. 泫圖弝け SOM is only permitted to provide technical and administrative support. The LCMEs 69-item survey will be administered to obtain students perspectives on

  • studentfaculty and studentadministration relationships
  • the learning environment and facilities
  • library and information resources
  • student services
  • the medical education program

Additional questions will be added to the survey by the ISA Student Committee co-chaired by Reagan Collins and Jad Zeitouni.
