Amarillo campus students named to President's Select

President’s Select, a student ambassador program and honors organization comprised of the top Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ undergraduate and graduate students, recently named its 2017-2018 representatives. 


Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ selects new Vice President of Research

Current Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ School of Pharmacy Dean Quentin Smith, Ph.D., has been named the university’s new senior vice president of research. Smith will serve in both roles concurrently. 


SimCentral cuts ribbon on new Amarillo building

The new SimCentral building officially opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 15. 


BCE schedules events for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Breast Center of Excellence will be participating in several public outreach events during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. 


Surgeons provide free hernia screening

The Department of Surgery teamed up with Northwest Texas Hospital on Sept. 23 to provide no-cost hernia screenings for area patients. Surgeons Darren Peterson, M.D., and LaJohn Quigley, M.D., said more than 20 people attended the event. 


Campus cook team brings home prize

Employees from multiple departments formed a cooking team for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce’s annual barbecue Sept. 14, and accepted the 2nd place prize for the team’s entry in the Corporate Brisket category. 


Laura Bush Institute hosts 'Girls Night Out' at WTAMU

More than 260 incoming West Texas A&M University freshmen girls attended the 2017 Girls Night Out event Sept. 26 at Legacy Hall located on the WTAMU campus. The annual event is hosted by The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health.
