Smalligan's contributions recognized at farewell reception
The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ campus in Amarillo said good-bye to one of its most popular and well-respected faculty members at a reception held Jan. 4. Roger Smalligan, M.D., regional chair of Internal Medicine, has accepted the regional dean position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Huntsville, Alabama campus.
CPRIT grant renewed for pediatric brain cancer research at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ in Amarillo
Dr. Kalkunte Srivenugopal's research in the School of Pharmacy received a boost in November when CPRIT named him a recipient of an Individual Investigator Research Award for Cancer in Children and Adolescents.
Poison Center Achieves Reaccreditation
The Texas Panhandle Poison Center, hosted by the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, has achieved reaccreditation through 2023 from the American Association of Poison Control Centers.
Nurse Family Partnership hosts Christmas party
For the third time in their short history with Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ, Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) held its annual Christmas party for current clients and recent program graduates Dec. 9 at the WHRI.

Student Research Week dates, speakers announced
Each year, students in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) organize and run a local meeting at the Lubbock campus called Student Research Week (SRW). The 2017 SRW is scheduled for March 7-10.
Pediatric research associate awarded travel grant
The Southern Section-American Federation for Medical Research and the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation recently awarded a travel grant to Mohammed Al-Obaide, a research associate for Department of Pediatrics.
New Year means new HealthSelect ID cards
If you are enrolled in HealthSelect or Consumer Directed HealthSelect, you should have received a new ID card to use for medical appointments and at the pharmacy. Begin showing your new ID card to your medical providers and network pharmacy on January 1. If you have not received your ID card yet, please contact OptumRx at (866) 336-9371 (TTY: 711.)
Earlier this year, the Employees Retirement System of Texas selected OptumRx, an affiliate of UnitedHealthcare, to administer the prescription drug programs for employees and their families enrolled in HealthSelect and Consumer Directed HealthSelect.
